National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. To facilitate local support of this national awareness effort, the Public Health Foundation (PHF), in collaboration with the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), developed digital toolkits for communicating with parents, patients, and healthcare professionals about immunization. These resources for partners include:
- Key messages;
- Social media content;
- Social media graphics;
- Newsletter announcements; and
- Links to educational resources for healthcare professionals.
In addition to these resources, CDC has information and resources to help local health departments and healthcare providers educate communities and partners about the importance of vaccinations:
- Save the Date: Strategies for Addressing Vaccine Misinformation (Webinar) – Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 1-2pm EDT. This webinar is free to join, but registration is required. Mark your calendar and register today for this event
- CDC plans to launch a website for the #HowIRecommend video series. These resources can be shared using the hashtag #ivax2protect.
Visit the CDC’s NIAM website to access these communications resources and find messages that you can use to highlight the benefits of vaccination and improve the health of your community.
