The Southern HIV/AIDS Strategy Initiative (SASI) has released a new report, HIV/AIDS in the U.S. Deep South: Trends from 2008-2016, which characterizes HIV/STI epidemiology, federal funding for HIV prevention and care, and utilization of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in the Deep South from 2008 to 2016.
With the release of this report, SASI has also announced that they will no longer operate as an independent entity and that their research-based policy work will be continued by the Southern AIDS Coalition (SAC). SAC will continue the SASI research agenda and will broaden the scope and depth of the research to include even more community-led research.
