NACCHO’s HIV, STI, and Viral Hepatitis program aims to strengthen the capacity of local health departments (LHDs) to address HIV, STIs, and viral hepatitis by providing technical and capacity building assistance, developing and disseminating tools and resources, and facilitating information exchange, peer engagement, and learning opportunities.

To better facilitate peer learning and engagement, NACCHO is collecting and disseminating requests for information (RFIs) related to local HIV, STI, and hepatitis practice. RFIs are posted below and distributed via the biweekly HIV, STI, & Hepatitis Digest e-newsletter, which you can sign up for here. RFIs will also be posted in a new virtual community of LHD HIV, STI, and/or hepatitis staff, which you can join here.

Eligible RFIs include those related to LHD HIV, STI, and/or hepatitis efforts, as well as requests related to adolescent sexual health, harm reduction, and substance use. NACCHO cannot guarantee that you will receive a response to a submitted RFI.

1. Local Health Department Efforts to Assess Barriers to STD Testing (submitted February 17, 2020)
   Local health department is seeking information about other health departments’ experiences assessing local barriers to STD testing, including examples of surveys to assess barriers. Contact Kat Kelley ([email protected]) if you have any information or examples to share.
2. Local health department STI billing practices (submitted Sep. 9, 2019)
   Local health department seeking information about other health departments’ STI billing practices, including the rationale for billing, what services are billed, whether or not third-party billing is used, barriers related to billing, and how the revenue is used. Contact Kat Kelley ([email protected]) if you are interested in sharing your experience with billing for STI services.
3. HIV/STI Screening Models in County Correctional Institutions (submitted July 3, 2019)
   County health department is seeking information about how other health departments conduct HIV/STI screening in county-level correctional institutions. While they provide screening services to a local institution, they do not staff the institution, and they are interested in learning about different models for HIV/STI screening at intake, including strategies to increase screening and the percent of eligible persons that complete testing (on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis) at other institutions.
4. Clinical Protocols for Hepatitis A Vaccination in Non-Traditional Settings (submitted June 3, 2019)
   Public Health – Seattle & King County is seeking examples of clinical protocols specifically for street/foot teams that administer hepatitis A vaccine to people living unsheltered in settings where there is not a vaccination station/mobile clinic with tables, chairs, etc. We are looking for protocols that describe how nurses administering vaccines in these settings maintain a sterile environment, the supplies included in their vaccination kits, etc.
