NACCHO is pleased to announce the launch of its new food safety technical assistance program. The program will help local health departments address challenges, barriers and emerging issues related to food safety. NACCHO can provide technical assistance on include the Food and Drug Administration’s Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program, foodborne disease outbreak response, retail food establishment scoring and grading systems, food trucks, the cottage food industry, food allergens, and other topics as specified by applicants.
Applications are open from November 2 to December 18. Health departments will be selected based on need. All applicants will be notified of their application status by the end of December 2015. Selected health departments will be asked to participate in a brief consultation phone call with NACCHO to determine needs and next steps. All recipients of technical assistance will be asked to complete a post-assessment and evaluation of the program.
