NaRCAD Resources: Public Health Detailing for HIV Prevention

Feb 25, 2019 | Kim Rodgers

The National Resource Center for Academic Detailing recently released two new resources focused on the power of academic detailing for HIV prevention efforts, including:

  • Talking with Providers About HIV Prevention & PrEP (Podcast). NaRCAD’s Kayland Arrington interviews Alosa’s Rebecca Edelberg on the need for public health detailing for improved HIV prevention in primary care, and highlights goals and processes of managing a robust detailing program to increase access to high-risk patients.
  • Academic Detailing for Social Justice: HIV Prevention via Provider Education (Blog). In this blog post, NaRCAD interviews Mary Nagy, MPH, RN/BSN, Public Health Detailer, HIV Care & Prevention Unit, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, NaRCAD Training Alumnus: “It’s a very exciting time to be doing this work because I do believe it is possible to end the HIV epidemic in the US within the next few decades. Racial and ethnic minorities continue to be underrepresented in PrEP utilization and overrepresented in new HIV diagnoses, and I want my work to contribute to correcting this. I think PrEP can be a tool for health justice and being part of that is valuable to me.”
