According to CBS News, scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are working to build a portable device that will detect specific contaminants in products like milk and alcohol and then transmit that information to an app. While the technology is still in early stages of development, the scientists hope it could be in consumers’ hands within the next five years.
