The January/February 2019 issue of the Journal of Environmental Health has an article on characterizing the roles and skill gaps of the environmental health workforce in state and local health departments. Data from the 2014 Public Health Workforce Interests and Needs Survey were used to describe self-reported roles, important daily work tasks, and skill gaps of environmental health workers and to compare and contracts these characteristics between state and local health departments.
