Webinar Series: How Storytelling and Sharing Lessons Learned Can Add Value to Your Organization

Oct 05, 2018 | Kim Rodgers

Join NACCHO and the AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation (AZHCF) for a two-part webinar series exploring ways to share lessons learned from your community health programs and rethink how you communicate your program milestones. Using the AZHCF Dissemination and Communications Guide as a starting point, national-level speakers will walk you through how to develop and disseminate your lessons learned and bring your program to life through storytelling.

Part One – Communicate with Passion: Say Less and Let Them Remember More (Oct. 25, 12:00-1:00pm ET)

How to Tell Your Program Story and Make Your Accomplishments Resonate with Stakeholders: AZHCF President Rich Buckley and Executive Director Joyce Jacobson join with Leigh Madden, Senior Vice President of Public Communications, Inc. to offer valuable insights into the power and art of storytelling to advance your community-based program outcomes and lessons learned. Learn how to develop key messages and spread the word by leveraging social media and conducting media outreach. Tips, tactics and templates will be shared to help bring your program to life, including through photography and videography, and metrics to assess the effectiveness of each communications tactic will be discussed. Maximize your ability to reach your stakeholders and leave them with a memorable message! Angie Settle, DNP, APRN, BC, FNP, and CEO of West Virginia Health Right, Inc. (a Connections for Cardiovascular HealthSM Grant Awardee) shares real-world examples of using storytelling and communications to support their program efforts. REGISTER.

Part Two – Disseminate Results: When You Care to Share the Very Best (Oct. 31, 12:00-1:00pm ET)

How to Create Your Program’s Proof Points — Publications, Presentations and Toolkits: AZHCF Chairman James Blasetto, MD, MPH, FACC is joined by Gopal Sankaran, MD, DrPH, MNAMS, CHES, a physician and public health professor, who will walk you through a step-by-step process for disseminating your program results and lessons learned. This webinar will help you develop lessons learned, such as how an organization overcame program challenges or highlighting effective program practices, and understand how sharing them through appropriate channels helps create proof points for the program’s accomplishments and its impact. Understand how choosing the content, format and channel for dissemination are essential considerations. Methods for dissemination such as publication in scholarly journals, presentation at professional conferences, and development of program toolkits will be discussed along with steps and tips for each. Hear from Lisa Safaenili, MPH, RD, Executive Director of Westminster Free Clinic (a Connections for Cardiovascular HealthSM Grant Awardee) as she discusses how her organization chooses dissemination methods to share lessons learned. REGISTER.
