The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has launched the AMR Challenge, a year-long initiative to accelerate the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR) with action across governments, industries, and civil society.
The AMR Challenge takes a one health approach to encourage global leaders to make formal commitments across five commitment areas that further progress in the fight against antimicrobial resistance. These efforts could contribute to solutions that protect humans, animals, and the environment from this global threat through:
- Tracking and data
- Infection prevention and control
- Antibiotic use
- Environment and sanitation
- Vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics
