On Friday, July 20th, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, sponsored a Congressional panel discussion, “Addressing the Impact of Climate Change on Public Health and Natural Disasters.” Policy experts spoke on how the Federal government should incorporate climate change in its preparedness plan for natural disasters and how it should work to mitigate the public health impacts of climate change.
NACCHO Senior Program Analyst Chelsea Gridley-Smith spoke on the panel, along with representatives from University of Maryland, Children’s Environmental Health Network, Oxfam America, and Trust for America’s Health.
